Tree Surgeons at work…again

There are a few protected oaks near us in Switzerland. They are getting on a bit, and recently have been
shedding branches, so that the path beside them has been closed.
You may have seen them in previous posts

    At New Year

    One Foggy Morning

The Tree surgeons arrived today, and have been lopping bits off here and there

Those guys are actually standing on branches, they are making me nervous.
    Do they not use cherrypickers?

They made me nervous too! They are roped to the tree, though some of them went right out to the smallest
twigs, then sawed them off by hand; they used chain saws for the larger ones.

And no, they don’t use cherry pickers. The eldest son, who used to do this sort of thing, told me that when they
want to take down a large tree in a confined area, the chain-sawer is hoisted up on a rope by a crane, hangs
from this and cuts away…

I hope they stood on the correct side of the saw.:)

Now that’s a picture I’d love to see!

They were at it again today — more nearby trees.

thats a lot of trouble for a game of conkers.

The first shot I think is really beautiful; the colours are fantastic. Its one that I would actually hang up on the wall. Second one also is a stunner, very well composed.

I daresay these first two would receive a lot more attention if they were in the Landscape section. They are fantastic (IMHO). Apologies if you wanted more constructive critique, don’t really have any.

    Thanks for the comments, Liam2673. The first was a ‘New Years’ card here and the second was in landscape a few days ago;
I just reposted them as an intro to the activities of the tree surgeons — who aren’t so easy to capture, as the branches make
focussing difficult and hide their faces.
