Well here goes – my first picture post here…

This was an HDR merge of three images, merged in photomatix and then tweaked in PS.
Im never sure how far to push things in photomatix; I have seen a lot of images around that just look terrible
because the photog didnt know when to stop! (Hope this isnt one of them.)

(Just checked the image – boy it is bad…… I will try and post the full size up somewhere)

the hdr is fine, the sharpness alas is not :)

Everything about the image is pretty good bar the softness. Well composed, day dreamy scene, caught the sun well. But the softness is dragging it way down. You want this to look sharp and have plenty of clarity.

    There are several reasons (excusses?)
    1) The shots were hand held – so didnt match very well
    2) Something nasty happened in the re-size/upload to the forum….

I will try and include a better version.

HDR-ing by itself can add colour noise and thus give the effect of softening. The shadows may be pulled out too much ading this noise so I don’t think the sharpening will have much effect I’m afraid. It’s a great idea though and could be very well executed.

Alan, think you are right about the noise induced by the HDr process… I will try and run the images through the process again next week. (Im away from home at the mo so no access to the image files).

Well thanks everyone for the feed back – guess it is much like my old school reports “OK but could do better!”

Feel free to have a look at the others in my forum gallery and CC always welcome.
