Decided to try and get a few shots before the snow thawed. First chance all week. They needed fill flash to compensate for the bright snow. Comments welcome. EOS 40D, EF 400mm F5.6, Manual Exposure, 1/250 sec, F7.1, ISO 200, Partial Metering, On Camera Flash (580 EX 2) ETTL at -3
Thanks for all the comments, John, Macui, Dave, Miki, Jenny, Gareth and Soda. I had coal tits, great tits, house sparrows, blue tits and robins queuing up Jenny! Of course the Goldfinch I was hoping for, only lands when you pack away your camera! I’ve only recently being ‘ going manual ‘ and its not that scary. I found that the fill flash needed to be -3, anything more powerful was over flashed and actually cast a shadow of the teasel on the snow background.
