Understanding Printing

Hi folks,

Just wondering if someone has any articles or book recommendations or can even just summarise for me the difference in photo prints. I’m talking about digital photos being printed onto photographic paper and then framed for a wall (I realise there are plenty of ways to print photos including canvas prints etc).

I know that ink and paper quality have a lot to do with it, but I’m just trying to really understand the nuts and bolts so I can make a decision on how I want my photos printed. Is there really much difference between say a professional printing service and bringing them to your local fuji film centre or using snapfish or something? :D

Massive difference between getting prints from the likes of Steve vs getting them printed in the likes of Snapfish, foto.ie, harvey Norman.

I would suggest you get the same photo printed in all 4 of these places at A4 size and see for yourself. True it may cost you an initial outlay of about €20 but it would let you see for yourself the difference.
