Thanks Isabella, the hardest part was finding a bulb with the filament showing!

thats awesome, i love minimal compositions, probably as i struggle with them a lot. would you mind taking an image of the set up to take this image?

It was a composite of two shots, one with the light bulb in a holder and lit, used a dimmer switch so that the brightness could be adjusted, the bulb was surrounded by black card, sides, back, underneath and top, a strip of white paper was folded around (like an arch) and moved forward so that the reflection just caught the rim of the bulb, this was just to give a bit of definition to the edge of the bulb. The second shot was of the bulb unlit and out of the holder, then the base of the bulb selected and pasted over the lit bulb, it was then rotated, copied and the copy was placed underneath the original and reduced opacity and Gaussian blur added to create the “reflection”.

Took me all afternoon, but I really enjoyed it, I am not good at Photoshop so I struggled with that part of it, had to keep finding tutorials to do the various steps, frustrating but I was happy with the results in the end!

Thanks for looking, and glad you like it! :D

Ps. I had to laugh at the minimal composition, if you saw the mess on the kitchen table it was far from minimal!

Very well executed Jenny. The lack of reflections is excellent, even in the Hmmm..reflection. :? Well done
