Using a SB-800 off camera, how do I adjust the settings?

I have a couple of flash questions which I hope someone can help with. I have a Nikon D90 and have just bought a SB-800 speedlight, i have been messing about with the off camera flash and firing the speedlight through the commander mode on the D90 using the built-in flash. My question is, how much control do I have over the speedlight in remote mode? All I seem to be able to do is adjust the EV level on the flash, therefore setting the power output. Is that all that can be done? Can I adjust the zoom, iso etc on it? I’m just setting it up as a remote flash, is that correct?

    Thanks in advance

With the SB600 which is possibly similar, you can’t alter the zoom. The only thing you can change is the output of the flash.

    Hi Adam,

You can set zoom etc, but on only on the flash, The EV can be set on the camera and in groups if you have more than one remote flash. There are plenty of youtube video demostrating how to use and setup Nikons system, do a search for Nikon CLS

If you’re using it in TTL mode, you can only adjust the EV level, as far as I know.
But it in Manual, and assign it a Group (A or B) and from the commander menu you can adjust the flash output in more detail from there.

The zoom can only be adjusted on the device itself!
