Venetian gondolier

Your photo is embedded too large (for my laptop screen anyway) and so it is hard to get the full picture, which is required for this photo I think.
I think it is a very good shot, except for the light which is quite distracting. The bright patches are the bridge and just behind the gondalier went the gondalier should be the emphasised.
I think that darkening the light patch and the bridge wall and brightening the gandeliers face and body a bit does bright the emphasis more onto him and makes a stronger shot.I’m totally crap at photoshop, so please forgive me for trashing your photo, but I thought it was best to show you my idea with a quick edit. Obviously it is not an improvement on the original, I’m just trying to convey about the lighting changing the focus of the photo.
