Maybe Travel would be the best section for it John but it’s a fantastic shot of the venice landscape!
Congratulations for a great photo!
Regards,
Rod
John DunneParticipantRobMemberJohn,
Love the panoramic aspect, and the colours you’ve captured.
But I must admit to finding the movement of the gondolas
quite jarring. Fantastic view, but perhaps not one for long
exposures, unless of course the gondolas are elsewhere…Rob.
John DunneParticipantThanks Rob. I used some nd filters to purposely create the movement. Venice can be very mystical underneath the skin, and that was my influence. I accept your point of view nonetheless and thank you most sincerely for commenting.
SteveDParticipantJohn, this is one of the best photos I have seen on this forum. The use of filters was an inspired choice IMO, and you achieved exactly what you set out to do.
I was curious as to how a monochrome edit would look, so I gave it a go:
Process was an orthochromatic style B&W conversion, and a palladium toning with level and contrast enhancements. Love the original, this is just an alternative for you.
Steve
John DunneParticipantThanks for your comments Steve. Wow I like the conversion. It now looks like it could have been taken any time in the last hundred years
FintanParticipantwhat a stunner John, well done. I’m struggling to think of any improvements. Would you consider cropping to remove the lantern on the right hand side, its pulling my eye too far right. Or maybe it balances it, I’m uncertain. Maybe you could make the lantern post into one of the other posts.
carlParticipantLovely, lovely shot John! Makes my Venice shots look ordinary. Love the movement and btw I think it looks perfect as it is.

I agree and having seen the print, take back my right lantern suggestion.
Alan153ParticipantI could swear I saws this photo in monochrome in a recent photography magazine..!! Is there applause/credit to be dished out?
