I was trying to portray my view of the city after news of more job losses were announced.

    Hi John.
I’ve mixed opinions on this one. On one hand, it shows (very well I must say) the neglect & a gloomy atmosphere, while on the other hand, it shows signs of construction, with the inclusion of the crane. I’m just wondering if excluding the crane would have worked better.
Indeed, another bad blow for the city. :(

Thank for your thoughts Miki! I did think about removing the crane but I felt one solitary crane didn’t shout loud enough
or maybe ‘one’ solitary crane does? The weed in the foreground is ‘taller’ than the crane & I was trying to use this to show how neglected
the city has become, how neglect now thrives as time moves along.

there was a site in limerick that had 5 cranes which never moved for about a year. in a photograph they would become symbolic though.

on my screen the weed blends too much with the background which does detract somewhat from the ability to convey the overall message in my opinion.

a good concept though, maybe there are some other ways to get the message across?

Works for me tbh. The weeds in the wasteland and then the single crane alone, a sign of the bust.
    Processing looks good also.

That is definitely a good capture of your expression John, well done.

I like the concept a lot. Very well thought out and composed. I am afraid that (and its probably my screen) but I find that the similarity in tones is causing the foreground and background to kind of blend together.
