Howra lads and ladies…
not sure where to post this, sorry if its in the wrong place.
I am starting to collect vintage cameras (car boot sales, auctions ect.) I recently got a 3A Folding Pocket Kodak Model B4, looks good on the inside but quite rough on the outside, basically my question is… is there anywhere (cork area) that could repair/refurbish something like this? would it be worth it? devastatingly expensive? I was given the camera for free so at least I’m not down any money…. yet!
I don’t think there is, but if you want to try it yourself:
You can get new bellows e.g. from http://www.custombellows.co.uk (not that expensive either, but bear in mind that these are hand made), a shutter service will set you back about €100 and new coverings can be had from http://www.cameraleather.com.
I’m sure googling will get you some international restorators.
I outsource a-la above and fix/make cameras myself; it’s not that hard, although I’m not a collector, but a user: Modifying a vintage camera (even with new, similar looking parts) usu. devalues it severely.
i have a few cameras i am looking to sell, some are old and in excellent condition, i had them looked at to see if working, they are. all film cameras.
