Virtual Tour Photography

GCPParticipant
After a bit of a learning curve and some investment in a new camera (Canon 6D), Auto Rotational table, auto camera sync., pano head & tripod and a litter of new software I am now doing Virtual Tours, Rotational 360/3D photography. Still in the learning mode but hoping to be marketing this service in 2014. The wedding market has become so saturated with photographers that I just had to explore new markets and with the Commercial side of my business increasing so much during this recession it seems the logical thing to move much more in that direction.
A few of my virtual tours are on my website to view.

So when you come across somebody needing a Virtual Tour, A 360/3D rotational image or an elevated image just pass on my details.
I have also re-directed http://www.gerrycostello.ie to my website. Winding down the old one.AnonymousParticipantBallymanParticipantHi Gerry
Best of luck with it. It doesn’t seem to work very well for me on an Android Nexus 7 tablet though. Have you tried it on the Android and IPad devices?
GCPParticipantThe one you see is a flash file that is on my own website. For customers I can give them output files for HTML5, Android, Quicktime, Iphone/Ipad, etc.

Do they have to pay you more for this ?
In other words, is this like an optional extra thing you offer – so if they want more people to be able to see it, then they need to pay you more here, for you to give them a file format that more people can actually see.
Clever idea if it is – just wish we could do something like that with our images – as it would be a great way to control the amount of use a client could get from our work.
GCPParticipantAshley, I give them the format they wish but if they want other formats as an extra, then there is a bit extra work involved so I do make a charge for the extra formats.

In that case, you may need to show them that now – explain it, plus explain what the additional cost would be – so as they can see which one or ones they would want to pay you for.
Because otherwise, they may just assume – just like Ballyman did – that it doesn’t really work very well… and so that would be the end of it.
GCPParticipantGood point Ashley. Must do that. Amazing the little things one misses or just assumes everyone knows already when we put a service together.
Thanks for that.AshleyParticipantGCP wrote:

Thanks for that.Thank Ballyman for pointing it out – as it worked 100% on my computer – so I didn’t see any problems here at all, until he happen to mention this.
BallymanParticipantI would also definitely not use Flash on my website either. If the customer wants it then let them have it and continue to offer it as a service but all IPads and a large amount of Android tablets and phones can’t view flash files properly so visitors to your site may not get the optimum experience.
While I accept its a different market but my own web stats show that more than 60% of web hits are now from a mobile device whether it be Apple or Android so that is potentially a large market of people who may not be able to view your services correctly.
GCPParticipantThanks also Ballyman for pointing this out. I must re-generate them again and change the format. Trust me to pick the on that is not the best.
