I was experimenting with panning at Walderstown Road Races on Sunday. Once I was getting the hang of it I started messing by zooming while panning. This is the result, it’s not spectacular by any means, but it does convey movement. The blur of the fence in the back and dandelion at the front wheel add an eerie feeling to it. The worst part is that the bike is not in focus, but it’s never going to be pin sharp while zooming as well as panning. Anyone any opinions?
If you time it right, you can get a selected portion of the bike pin sharp. A small bit if USM should bring up the area around the handlebars to something a little bit clearer.
I still love the movement and the off centre composition, great stuff :)
I think the bike looks better where it is, it has space to go “into” so to speak.
You do get a feel of speed of this picture which is a good start for you, I have panning on my 70-200 2.8 IS but not at the stage yet to try it out.
I def will though in the future.
