A long shot perhaps, but this lens has been on my mind for some time now, and would seem to be perfect for the still life and portraiture I plan to dabble in.
I have a 150mm f4 Sonnar-C, and a 80mm f2.8 CB I could consider as part of a trade against a 120mm, as well as any of the sale items I currently have up here (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=38673)
damien.murphyParticipantMay have a line on one of these, so if anyone has one locally, drop me a line in the next day or so before I have one shipped from the states
FintanParticipantI picked up mine about 6 years ago and its a fantastic lens, its the CF version and I have the full set of the ‘E’ extention tubes and they are a great combination.
damien.murphyParticipantHi Fintan,
That’s the version I’m after too. Seems a cracking lens from what I’ve seen, ideally suited to my intended purposes, and better built than the later CFi version from what I see too. I imagine yours will have to be prised out of your dead hands! :)
I found one originally through the hasselblad forum (http://www.hasselbladinfo.com/forum/index.php” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;), which fell through, but have found a few other deals stateside, which seem to be more reasonably priced than the European lenses I’ve come across.
I wonder if you have any shots online which you’ve shot with your 120mm ?
FintanParticipantah yea i’d be hanging onto mine too be honest.
lots to see on flickr http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=120mmcf” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; but you wont ‘see’ the difference on anything online though i suspect you know that already.
damien.murphyParticipantYeah, I know what you mean. Nothing quite like a wet print, to see the subtlety of the real image.
Some smashing work on flickr. Must take a further browse and have a look at some black and white work portraiture.
Any issue with shots at distance, from your experience of the lens, Fintan ? The web mutters that the lens is better at closer distances than infinity, but thats what I would have expected from a lens optimised for closer distances – what do you shoot with it yourself
