Wasp on yellow flower joolsveerParticipant September 17, 2006 at 10:19 am I’m fairly sure that this insect is a wasp. Please correct me if I’m wrong again. GilesKSParticipant September 17, 2006 at 5:01 pm This is clearly a hoverfly – wasps have twice as many wings and a narrow waist for a start. Decent capture of it though, albeit very horizontal. AliParticipant September 17, 2006 at 5:38 pm Well i guess i need to brush up on my insects :) Excellent shot jools. So sharp  PeteTheBlokeMember September 17, 2006 at 6:55 pm It’s weird the way it seems to be a long way above the flower. And its legs are not there. Was it in flight when you took the photo? Is that why its wings look as if they’re quivering? Very sharp. Excellent detail. I would turn the hoverfly to angle to make better composition if you can. joolsveerParticipant September 18, 2006 at 7:43 am Thanks for the advice. I have gone back to the RAW file and recropped and turned the shot slightly. What do you think? RobertoMember September 18, 2006 at 7:51 am I think it’s better.
