my first usable macro shot. big thanks to noely for his patient answers to my silly newbie questions on macro photography.
used the canon 18-55 and the reversed 50mm f/1.8.
bethfstop89564ParticipantJay KingParticipantVery nice Beth… I like the magnification and reflection – it makes it almost creature like… it’s alive!
I couldn’t see the image at first either… and was subsequently logged out of the site – but once I logged back in I could see it fine.
Noely FParticipantHey!…..I’m no lady…….Maybe at weekends perhaps, but thats for another forum
RobMemberSuperb macro Beth. Incredibly sharp and fantastic colour
throughout. You’ll have to give us a rundown on your macro setup
and how you pieced it together. I’ve got two kit lenses I don’t use
anymore and would be interested in trying something like this…Rob.

opps.. sorry, the name threw me, i have two girls named noely so i just figured that was your name….
lol, umm…. about that other forum…. oy. lol
bethbethParticipantthanks everyone.
i got a macro coupler ($9usd at bhphoto.com) which is just two male filter adapters fitted to each other (you could probably make your own out of some stepping rings and epoxy)..
i originally placed my 70-200 L on the camera and then mounted the front element of my 50mm f/1.8 to the front of the 70-200.. that didn’t work so well. so after a few pm’s back and forth to noely HE ;) figured out that the 70-200 was probably too much. i switched it out with my 18-55mm kit lens (which has been sitting bored in the shadows for many months now) and it worked fine. finally got outside after a rain storm last night and shot a series of water droplets to just play around.. worked pretty well for a first time, but still no match for noely’s bugs ;)..
bethedit: i uploaded the picture to a different gallery so hopefully everyone will be able see it now.
