Water drops, roses and sepia

    Since buying my Tamron 90mm macro lens it’s opened up a whole new area of photography and I’m loving it. So, Saturday afternoon I couldn’t get out for a landscape shoot so I nipped down to Tesco to get some flowers (for the wife) and a bottle of Glycerine. I mixed the glycerine with water, as it thickens it up and makes the water easier to work with.

    Both were shot beside the kitchen window, no flash, tripod and camera self-timer.

    Apertue = f2.8

    Aperture = f8

    I like the single drop on the red rose in #1. I would prefer if the centre of the rose in #2 was higher in the shot & it looks a bit under exposed to me (but I could be wrong). Did you add toning? It also looks a bit too busy for my taste, but a nice shot anyway. Well done.

    Miki, I agree 100% about the centre of the rose needs to a little higher up in the frame, I’m working toward a panel for my LRPS so I’ll probably reshoot this shot. The Toning was done in-camera using the 60D’s Sepia filter, I just did a Levels adjustment and a little sharpening and that was it.

    The light in the single drop is very intriguing. Just that I wouldn’t tell it’s on a flower if I didn’t know..
    I like the second shot the way it is, not about the flower as much as it is of the water drops this time. Sepia is one of my favourites so plus points for that already :D
    Two great shots, I can tell why you’re loving macro so much, seems great fun ;)
