Water Drops

Thanks for your comments everyone, for those that asked about technique LOL
I taped a dropper to a makeshift stand and placed a crayon above the cup where the drops were falling and set the lens to manual focus on this area. Camera settings were Manual, ISO 100, f11 at 1/200 with flash in high speed sync mode.
JB7 – you were bang on about the backgrounds, A4 coloured card from Easons, I see what you mean about the flash highlights, next time I think I will bounce the flash within a light tent.
Not Pete the blokeParticipantSurely the high sync speed on the flash is unnecessary? Your shutter speed was 1/200 which is within your x-sync speed, so surely it has absolutely no effect on the outcome?

PeteTheBlokeMemberThe photos are awesome. I didn’t even look for ages (“More drops of water – mark as read”)
but these are some of the best I’ve seen.sparklesMemberbrandyman wrote:

You are correct, when I started I had the shutter speed above 1/250 but was trying different apertures so I must have lowered the shutter speed at some point.
mylesrantsParticipantthis is the first time on this back patting photo site that i have returned to see an image.
these are fantastic. and no contest best yet of all the posts.

MeoParticipantThey are AMAZING!! I love them, water, raindrops etc facinate me when it comes to photography!! Pretty cool man!
kellyseyeParticipantDJHParticipantsparklesMemberMadra RuaParticipantjb7ParticipantMuch better than the first ones-
though I think the background colour sheets could be bigger still-
you can see the edges refracted in the drop,
and it distorts the perfection of it slightly-The highlight slightly off to one side of the drop is another small niggle-
but only small-More good stuff, good timing-
How many did you take to get this one?

I was very lucky with this one, I got about 5 shots in focus out of the first 10, of course the next 50 were more miss than hit as I varied the height and angle of the dropper.
I have ordered an off camera shoe cord so I can move the flash about so hopefully that will help with the highlights. I am also hoping to play with refraction and background objects.
