shutterbugParticipantHi Tony, welcome to the site!
Waterfalls are always good subjects to photograph, though I find them quite difficult, you
have managed to get a nice flow in the water, I can’t decide which version I prefer. The colour
version seems to have a bit of a blue caste going on and I think would be improved if this were
corrected, the black and white version works well and maybe a little levels/contrast tweak
would make the whites a bit whiter, well done and keep posting!peewee3ieMemberThank you Jenny for the comments.
There could be a reason for the bit of blue. The time that they were taken at was about 8 in the evening and the other reason is the lens I was using is for a full frame camera. The camera is a Nikon D3000 and the lens is a AF-D 28-80mm with micro option at 80mm. I am going to go back and try that lens on my other Nikon which is a D90.
I done a bit more of a touch up on these ones
C&C welcome

shutterbugParticipantTony it could be the white balance? Do you shoot raw? If so it is easily rectified in
post processing. I use Lightroom for processing and the colour sliders are great for
correcting slight colour castes.peewee3ieMemberGenerally do shoot in raw. I don’t have lightroom. I had to replace my laptop a few weeks when it decided to give up one morning on me. I am trying to find my cd for photoshop. I have been using gimp for now and it will not work with raw files which pain.
I am thinking of buying lightroom as I would like to work more with raw. I have tried it out and I like it better than photoshop.
Thank you Jenny for you help and comments.
shutterbugParticipantNo problem Tony, would really recommend Lightroom, very easy to use and the new version
I think V.5 is supposed to be the all singing all dancing version!miki gParticipantHi Tony.
Waterfalls always seem to be very difficult to capture sucessfully, but I think you’ve done a good job here. Personally, I like the blue caste, as it adds a cool feeling to the water. Unfortunately, it also shows the rocks in a blue tone too. The 1st B&W version looks very flat & grey, but in the 2nd version, the water looks nice & bright. Maybe a little more contrast would make it stand out more.
I don’t use Photoshop, but I use Lightroom or Paintshop pro (cheaper than Photoshop, but good). Considering your current software, I think you’ve done very well with this.p.s. Welcome to the site.
peewee3ieMemberThank you Miki for your comments.
I looking in to lightroom and can only find photoshop lightroom 4.
I also mite look into Paintshop pro as well
miki gParticipantI think Lightroom 5 is only in the Beta stage at the moment, but I could be wrong. Lightroom 4 gets very good reviews overall, even though I don’t tend to use it too often personally.
