A kind old gentleman who graciously allowed me to take a shot of him. His eyes had cataracts and his face showed the rigours of time. Comments and critique welcome as always

I like it too and Noely is right. It has some Beckett style.
Only one thing. I would ‘cover’ the five white spots on the left top.

Super shot, certainly has some of the facial lines which Beckett had.

I’m must pluck up the courage sometime and take a shot like this.

    Super shot, Ciaran.
Love the catchlight in his eyes.

Masterful capture as usual Ciaran. I was drawn to the face immediately and never noticed the ‘five white spots’ until they were mentioned. Wouldn’t change a thing about it. 8)

    Thanks :)

In retrospect the image is soft, but I’ve never been able to pinpoint why. Initially (as lame as an excuse as this is) I blamed it on the persons cataracts. Usually I use a persons eyes to judge sharpening, which was difficult to do in this case. But as has been pointed out to me, it’s a DOF issue where I didn’t focus on the eyes and with the shallow DOF used, they ended up soft. I still like the shot and appreciate everyones comments, but I don’t think I’ll be able to print this one out big :(

    Thanks again
