These are not at all bad Rob, though I’m finding them a little
bit on the tight side framing wise. The first is very centrally composed
and might have been better framed to include all of the dress and
possibly even the entire car door. In the second, the cropping of both
the veil and the father of the bride’s elbow jars just a little, as does
the shadow directly behind. The shadow is also very evident in the
third image and this one might have benefitted from positioning both
subjects outside the arch, which would have filled the arch more and
    eliminated the need for flash…

    Just my 2d worth…

    Rob.

    Hi Rodred,

Seems we were at the same course a couple of weeks ago. I think your photo’s look good in B&W. In my opinion #2 is the best out of them, and I think the tight crop works. As I was there I know how hard it was to get the photo’s some times and to catch your man smiling was a challange in its self.

cheers for the comment pa2000, yeah alot of the shots were hard to get them look at the camera
    to many chiefs eh!

yeah the course is good, gives you an idea of the way the ceramony works, and is a great feeler
if you are planning on shooting a wedding.

    I’m sorry Rob,

    These are poor IMO.

The framing of the first 2 is a little on the tight side (also looking away from camera as if to another camera, which is probably what was happening.) Look at the basic compositional rules and try and make it clear what the viewer is supposed to be looking at.
The biggest problem is the nasty flash shadow down the side of the people on the wall behind.
A flash bracket (to get the light over the lens) will help with this a lot, better still get the flash off-camera and soften it a bit.

Hope that gives food for thought.

    Si
