Wedding Photographers Out there – A Queston Please ?
-
brownieParticipant
Last week on Ireland AM their resident photographer Jenny McCarthy made a statement that she can get through all her after church Wedding photos in three quarters of an hour…that’s all the family photos plus the bride and groom photos…now even on air the presenters seemed a bit bemused at this and asked again was she serious…she said she was and couldn’t see why it would take any longer ???
I e-mailed her saying that I thought the comment might be bit flippant as we might all now have wedding couples asking can we do their wedding in that time scale…what do others think and what is your normal time spent at taking the wedding photos after the church…maybe I’m getting old but there is no way I could fit it all into that time scale…just need a few opinions before I reply to her answer…which I haven’t mentioned so far !!

MarkKeymasterSounds like she could have the photos ready for the bride & groom before the speeches are made :)
AnonymousParticipantI watched her this morning trying to explain shutter speed with the aid of a dog & a waterfall.
I don’t think she did a good job in presenting the tutorial in which she appeared to become stuck
on explaining & just casually moved along.Out of curiosity how many images would she be talking about?
miki gParticipantShe could possibly mean taking the formal family shots (small family) , but I don’t think she would get post processing done or any of the reception shots taken in that time frame.
brownieParticipantMuch as I thought really as she took offence to me questioning whether or not it was possible to get through the photos in three quarters of an hour…and to clarify…it was all the family , outside church, bride and groom photos, bride on her own, groom on his own photos that she was talking about…John…I assume it is the full gamut of photos that any photographer takes at a wedding…she said all her weddings only take that time and that she is already nearly fully booked for this year.
paulParticipantFrom listening to her, she seemed to say that it was just taking the photos – ie getting people in place, take the shots, and let the couple get back to the guests.
So, 45 mins seems just fine. I know at our wedding (in 2010), we had all the formal shots done in just about 30 min. But, we were very organised.
We had the list of shots required.
The best man plus the head bridesmaid knew who had to be in each photo, and people were waiting. Shot taken and then the next group were put in place. It was quick and methodical.
