    Hi All,
I know this is a long shot but there?s no harm in asking. Do any of you guys or girls need an assistant/second shooter at wedding (non paid of course).I have done a wedding photography course lately, also am quite good with PS and LR. I have all the gear needed to second shoot plus a load I don?t need! (Don?t tell my wife) You can see some of my recent work if you vist my website http://www.timelesspic.com. Please email me for a full CV if you are interested.
    All the best Mark

    Few things:

You do have some good work in there, but in the main it’s just one subject – your daughter – and honestly most of the photos just seem to come from a day out with your family. It’s nicely shot, nicely processed, but there’s absolutely no variety there. You show you make a good child photographer, but you want to be a wedding photographer.

IMHO, try and get an aspiring model and see if she will do a mutual portfolio shoot with you. As it stands you could drop half the photos in it without diluting the message you want to get across. Here’s my own as a comparison:

Mine has landed me a three-day job with national (US) TV airing and a full time job as a chapel photographer, in the past two weeks.

    Not bad

I stand corrected. You still need to make your photos accessible. What I’ve found is that people are lazy – if you make them go through hoops to get at the photos odds are you’ll have fewer look at them. Whore yourself vigorously IRL – pass out business cards liberally and put up flyers in stores and supermarkets.

If anyone is thinking about this, Mark helped me out last week, and took some stunning images including this one (that he had not even seen yet!):

Note: This is straight from the camera, and yet to be “touched”.

Well having shot my first solo wedding a couple of weeks ago I can honestly
say I will never do it again. Waaaaayyyyy too much hassle for me.

Best of luck though I have a lot of respect for anyone getting into weddings

Graham, just out of interest ….. what were the worst parts?

Well it’s hard to my finger on it to be honest.
One thing that sticks in mind was the the big group shot outside the church.
Trying to get 50 people to stand still was a nightmare. I would get everyone arranged as far as height and stuff goes and
then the bride would call in ten more people that jsut fecked the thing up and i would have to rearrange everyone again.

One thing that really got me though was the amount of people coming up to me with point and shoots and asking me why
    their shots didn’t come out.

I guess you need to be a certain type of person to shoot weddings. It just wasn’t an enjoyable day for me.

However the bride and groom were really impressed with the shots and really did like them so i guess it was a success
    from that point of view.
