Wedding photography startup

Hi guys
Ive just joined this site and was wondering if someine could maybe point me in the right direction: im very keen on photography as a hobby and lately ive been thinking about doing a portfolio up, im most interested in wedding/portrait photography and was wondering how i would go about getting some experience?

The best way to get into it would be to contact a few wedding photographers and explain to them your interest and see if they would let you do 2nd shooter.

I am a new member in this forum.

Your interest in Photography is laudable. And I see you would like to specialize in wedding photography, which is by far the most complex category in this discipline which covers wedding photography and wedding videography. I think the basic step for you would be to work your way up from apprenticeship under a wedding photographer of experience and repute.
