Folks, I have located a recommended hostel in Skibbereen which has availability for both Fri Aug 21 and Sat Aug 22:

    http://www.russaghmillhostel.com/

    Prices are:

private family rooms sleeping 4 in double & set of bunks at 20euro per person or 60 euro for family with children.
double rooms 25 euro p.p sharing
dor beds at 15 euros ea

PLEASE POST OR PM ME QUICKLY WITH YOUR REQUIREMENTS!

This is an ideal base from which we can decide our destinations for both days (Sat and Sun). It is also very close to the town
    centre for Sat night
    :D .

Plus, if we stay closer to Skib it will be a shorter drive for the daytrippers! As I said we decide our final destinations later.

    NEED REPLIES FAST!

    Thanks

Ken, It isnt that close……………..trying to think but its probably a 25/30 minute walk out the traguma road………Im open to correction though

about 1 mile I think, so that’s about right. A quick taxi ride or a pleasant walk – this is luxury compared to some places we have been :D

Fair enough John, but we will be taking chances on availability

I would probably be on for the hostel depending on numbers

Ken – August is pretty undecided – but I want to go to West Cork – so put me down for 2 nights in a snorers’ dorm.

Experience advises that you should get payment now – and then book the hostel.

If by PayPal, make sure that you add on their commission.

I’ll pay by PayPal – PM or post (if that is safe) your paypal details.

No-one’s taken me up on the offer of a place to kip overnight – so if anyone does need a bed – let me know! :) Not online much at the moment, but I should definitely get any messages before the date itself! :)

    Hi folks,

in the absence of many replies I have reserved 12 beds (various room sizes) for Aug 21 and 22.

I will check back at the end of July to get firmer numbers, and definite bed requirements.

Have a good July and don’t forget to keep this event in your calendar.

Should be available for the trip. What time will it kick off as I am on Sherkin and my joining time will depend on ferry times?
Will not need overnight, have car to offer lifts.

Would be good to all stay together, but can’t really do that at that point as have a potential gig on the evening near Galley Head. Never mind! :)

    Hi Nuala,

the KO time is planned to be 10am on the Saturday. Destination not finalised quite yet, but most likely to be Glengarriff Nature Reserve – will confirm
    at end of July.

Look forward to seeing you there!

I may have trouble getting to Glengarriff, as currently we have no transport and rely on my mum, who although she enjoys her own photography, has already said she’s not willing to go that far! Can’t reeeeeally blame her! Still – we are moving to Rosscarbery ourselves at the beginning of July, and will have a much bigger house, so we can, if necessary put some people up? Not too many as I think my Landlord (and my OH) would have a fit! However, I can probably provide a bed for two people (or two couples – I only have double beds) – or 3 at a push – as I have a pull out double bed/sofa – though it’s not very comfy!

If anyone wants to take me up on this offer let me know soon – my only request in response is that whoever stays, someone has to give us a lift! :D We’re happy to share petrol from Ross and back, and of course, staying in Ross has its benefits as it’s gorgeous, and fantastic for wildlife! :D

Hi Laura, as mentioned transport is not a problem, there will be several cars available (Mark’s and mine at least)

Laura, please see the above – again transport should be ok.
I also invited tyhose who know Ross to give us a summary of attractions so we could decide as a group.
