Maybe a bit of a whack conversion? I like it… but I’d like to know what other people think?

The sand is a bit too bright. Too oversaturated but its a very nice picture IMO if that was toned back a bit.

I like the conversion and as discussed before nfl it captures the effect you were after at the outset. The sand (in places) is a little bright and maybe the water at the right of the young lady  but I think it is good.

ps just an edit on a second look.. composition is excellent too from a reading point from left to right your eye starts at the mother catches the child and off to the right through the gap in the dunes…. excellent…

The sand is a bit bright but the composition with the young lady and child and the gap in the dune is exactly how my eyes read the picture

Id be pleased with it :)

The conversion is just something I was messing about with… I was trying to replicate something that you might get off an old camera from the mid-70s with a somewhat over-processed look to it. Its a bit of a fluke to be honest but it just has something different about it that I liked.

I hear what you’re saying about the sand… might re-visit that one.

    Cheers!

Too many light for my opinion but nevertheless it’s interesting image. I edited it so

but I think the “true image” is somewhere between those images

That’s a nice image there JP but you did, shall we say, go overboard with the dodge/burn tool I suspect. I’d only use 3-4% opacity on the dodge/burn tool to make subtle adjustments to images. It doesn’t always work but at least you can build a burn/dodge effect slowly.
