What do I Charge?

    Hi everybody,

I have been offered I’m first non wedding job. They need me to photograph about 60 exhibitors at a trade conference, the committee, and one of the ministers opening the conference( about six hours on the day plus some photoshop after). They need photos for a press release and a DVD of all other photos for future use. They are a non profit organization and I would probably do it a bit cheap but I don’t what to sell myself short.

    Any advise would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Brian

Press&PR Rates are about €135 per hour on site taking photos plus a per captioned jpeg charge which depends on the number of jpegs, for 60 I’d probably look for €12.50 each. It depends on the client, any repeat business and whether captions are required. You may be able to go less – maybe charge €500 for the time as the hourly rate is not usually the day divided by 8. My normal fee for three hours and 20 captioned jpegs is €705 plus VAT, but any less than 20 and it’s €25 a jpeg. I retain copyright, but the clients can use them for their own promotional purposes as often as they like, usually exclusively. Most of these shots are only of interest to the client and the event and don’t have much life beyond that. You’ve also got to consider the distribution method – how do you get them to your client? Is there a cost involved? Don’t forget your notebook and pen :-)

These fees are posted on the fees page at http://www.imagebureau.ie – have a look if you want.

    Good luck.
