i’m starting my journey with infrared so I bought myself Efke 820 IR 35mm, recently got a filter from ebay that has a 850nm description. do I have any chances to register anything on film or it’s too opaque?
thanx

I usa a Hoya R72 but under another brand name. E-bay purchase. There is a group on flickr (link below) which has lots of info and opinions. With the older Kodak infrared I used to get good results from a standard red filter which gives you a cheap option ifneeded. The offical technical sheet is very good, its a pdf and very readable. i will add it when I find it. A standard Infrared filter would require a 6 stop increase in exposure whic will have you about 3 ASA
The Efke IR film’s sensitivity extends to 820nm so your 850nm filter is too strong. The R72 which Eddie mentioned cuts light out around 695nm and is the most common filter used for this film. You will need it if you want a strong infrared effect.
I was wondering is there a supplier for Colour IR Film. I’m about to start a small project and it would be great to experiment with colour film.
Also could anyone recommend a good lab for getting either B&W IR or Colour IR to be developed, as my B&W developing skills aren’t the best at the moment
