What is a Holga…
-
S-ManMember
got some film to get me started.
whats your advice get them printed and scan them
or develop them and scan them (my scanner is rubbish) and get the good ones printed????JohnnyMcMillanParticipantFlipFlip….it works but you have to change the levels around a bit…
S-Man….if you drop in your negs to get developed and then scanned and printed small etc….it will be a hefty charge. What I did was just buy myself a flatbed neg scanner (Epson Photo 4490) for about 270 euro’s, and then just drop the negs into Conn’s for dev only…cheapest way BY FAR.
S-ManMemberis there any where i can go which has a facility where i can scan the negs and have them sent to me?????
cheaply.
:D :DJohnnyMcMillanParticipantHmmm…not that I know of. Mainly the places that will scan them will charge per negative I’m sure and will be expensive if you need a few of them done at a high res…
EddieParticipantTwo images from Marino Casino, a very fine building and well worth a visit. Holga neopan 400 developed in Rodinal

Good idea Johnny…
I’m lookin at a scanner online now… CanoScan 4400F for ?95, or the CanoScan LiDE 600F for ?135… Works out a lot cheaper alright… cost me ?26 euro for 2 rolls to be developed and printed in Gunn’s…
both on Komplett – http://www.komplett.ie/k/kcp.aspx?sku=326437&sku=326102
FlipflipParticipantLiking the second one Eddie.
Was thinking about purchasing a scanner for negs aswell actually.

That actually works????
Deadly.
So if I scanned em on my scanner then used photoshop to invert em would that work???
If you don’t have a film scanner (you need backlighting), you could place them on a light-table (or similar) and photograph with a macro lens (& tripod, time release with mirror lock up if you have it) and invert in PS. I works well enough for a good 7×5 print.
A decent used flat-bed film scanner you could get for less than 150 euro.FlipflipParticipantyeah I think Ill just purchase one. save me a good bit of hassle! might trawl through ebay and have a scout.
thanks for the advice.
Jay KingParticipantThe Epson 4490 (as mentioned above) seems to be the best way to go…

EddieParticipantfluffy_penguinsParticipantConey Island – holga; split toned / sepia. The originals are far sexier!!!
2 photos from a series on my favourite place – Coney Island.
