lol, thanks Eddie. It’s just right now I’m in a happy place, cos for a while I was bored with what I was photographing…well not what…but how more to the point. Digital was sterilising the experience for me. So I’m happy now with film…so much so I’m tempted to get a TLR!

Yes please keep us posted on this Holga thingy flip et al – did you order it from ebay? I saw Holga images on 35mm film – where the image covered the entire film including the holes – brilliant! I am tempted myself and the costs seem minimal.

All mine have come from e-bay via Hong kong. Delighted to see other photographers are getting into the toycamera scene. They are great for multi exposure. Here is one from Iveagh gardens that had a t least two exposures.

    Hello again…

You can get Holga’s through http://www.lomography.com

    OR

    Ebay at people such as…

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/Brand-New-Holga-120GCFN-Lomo-Camera-100-NEW-UK_W0QQitemZ230061033909QQihZ013QQcategoryZ38612QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And Brandyman to answer your question. You can put 35mm film through a Holga using this techinque (http://www.toycamera.com/tech/126.cfm) or you can buy a 35mm adapter for your Holga. But it would give this effect…

Its just the standard Holga as far as I can tell, it has a flash with different colours(but its not the coloursplash), thats about it.

    I ordered it from lomography.

After watching the link from the original poster of this thread I didnt realise there was little techniques like the masking tape on the outside and all that, and also ive never used medium format so I think I may be asking for alot of advice here.

    Thanks alot for the offer!!

Was looking around a good bit today at images and the more I look the more impatient I get! I want it now!

Ah well, itll make a good piece for recording the xmas celebrations!

    Flipflip.

Masking the outside is common practice. They recommend gaffer tape as it is not sticky when removed. I use black velcro. Got it in Hickeys. Comes as two strips attached together and one part has stickey glue also. I put the stickey bit around the seams of the doors then seal by overlapping with the other piece of velcro. It works well and all you do is remove the back velcro to change film. I generally keep the camera in the bag until i am about to use it especially in direct sunlight as internal reflections fron the cheap lens can also cause lightleaks.

On the other hand you might likethe lightleaks . In that case just secure the doors with the gaffer tape to prevent you opening the back by accident.

Enjoy the experience, look forward to seeing the results.

The main reason as to why the say you shouldn’t use electrical tape (which is way cheaper than gaffer tape) is because it can get sticky…and to be honest. I’ve used my holga for some time and don’t have that problem. Mainly the people who do say it gets sticky live in hot conditions…unlike….wait…let me check http://www.met.ie ….yeah it’s wet again tomorrow.
