I’m wondering if any of the Holga fans here use their Holga with a Polaroid back? I’ve been dabbling recently but the film is so expensive (and also no longer manufactured) that I use my back sparingly these days.
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantIt’s the expense of it….AND the expense of the back in the first place….

That’s true – the back costs about 5 times the price of the camera.
EddieParticipantI love the Polaroid work i have seen around especially Polaroid 55 and SX 70 stuff but am cautious not to get involved in too many styles of photography at one time. Like other styles it takes time to pefect and get to know processes and materials. That is the fun of photography i suppose but the Polaroid stuff is so very expensive. I will promise myself to do some Polaroid 55 work next year.
lightladyParticipantHey, Eddie, would you know of a place in Ireland that sells such Polaroid film for a reasonable price?

We’ve all searched the shops here and most polaroid types are way overpriced. Online is best unfortunatly.
EddieParticipantI was surprised last year to discover that Image Supply Systems beside DIT Kevin Street had some Polaroid 55, The owner said he sold lots of it. Check it out before you go online. Fintan may be correct in that it may be expensive here but UK postage costs can be expensive.
FintanParticipantYes, Image Supplies do Type 55 and some fuji instant film for medium format backs.
Actually I’ve found Jessops online to be about the best value, 7dayshop.com used to stock some polaroid types but not so much anymore. Calumet Belfast have a very good deal on some types at the moment. Then theres the holy grail for real photographers called silverprint.co.uk
lightladyParticipantThank you, Eddie and Fintan for the replies I’m so slow in responding to.
I found Fujifilm FP100C in Mathers of Lancashire for ?7.99 a pack – I was quoted 25.99 for this same 10 pack in Dublin just before Christmas! Even with the postage and exchange rate I’m doing much better. I ordered it on Thursday and it arrived first thing the following Monday morning. :DlightladyParticipantdavedunneParticipantlightlady wrote:
Dave, what film goes in the Holga Polaroid back?
The Polaroid back takes type 80 series film so that includes 84, 85, 87, 88 and 89. Unfortunately Polaroid have stopped production of this type of film.
Rumours are that there is a new back coming out which will take 600 series pack film in addition to the 80 series.
lightladyParticipantthanks for the reply, Dave, that’s pretty interesting, to think Polaroid are actually going to bring out something new!
David_SParticipantthis is a holgaroid .. lol
old stuff shot on 89
just got the new back for the holga so finally i can use some decent films ;-)

EddieParticipantNice work, the second reminds me of a film set, love all that empty space, adds a bit of mystery.
