Was looking at the Nikon 80-200 F2.8 not the AF-S one though.
Unfortunately not being AF-S it won’t work with the teleconverters, ie TC-14 etc…Mark
How easy are these to come by?
MarkKeymasterPlenty on ebay.co.uk , I’m considering getting one from hksupplies a Hong Kong supplier.
My SB-800 arrived from them this week with no extras if you know what I mean ;)
Only took 4 days and thats including a day delay due to aircraft issues along its journeyMark

I still have awful lens lust for the 70-200mm f2.8 VR from Nikon, but it’s damn expensive and very hard to get your hands on.
Sigma’s offering is very good and a lot cheaper, worth considering if you dont need the VR
FintanParticipantCanon 70-200 f2.8 L IS [new via USA] or Hasselblad 50mm CF FLE [used]
Decisions decisions ……….

I would like one of these too.
I had a loan of one for a short while, zooming out to 200 with out the aperture changing is a great novelty !
It’s heavy though wouldn’t fancy bringing it on a walk about for a few hours.
Hard for me to justify after just getting a Nikkor 18-200
Also have an itching for a Nikkor 12-24,not sure if I’d use it enough.
DarrenGParticipantSigma 300 f2.8 if I can scrape the money together. Just purchased a used Nikkor 50mm f1.8 for a great price which should be with me next week.

What is your next lens purchase will be?
at the moment I am saving for a 24-70 2.8L would this lens worth to sacrifice about 180 days of lunch :D or is there any alternative option in low cost market. You might want to consider the Sigma 24-70 2.8EX DG
I can’t find the review comparing it to the “L” lens. Summary was, The Sigma was more contrasty and sharper, although noisier.

The 50mm 1.8 is a great lens, everyone should have one.

Right so.. lens lust is getting the best of me and this isn’t helped by the fact that I actually saw one of these in Conn’s the other day
I have a few options:
Conns 1900 quid (rounding off) but I get it immediately
BH Photo – 1300 for the Grey market version but need to wait until late November for my brother to go over on holidays and pick me up one
Ebay (HK supplies) – 1400 with the risk of paying that much through ebay, risk of excise and wait a week or so.I’m swaying towards Conns.. PLEASE talk me out of it.
Another option is the Sigma. I don’t necessarily need the VR but the quality and sharpness of the Nikon is renowned. Help
