To provide 10 images of ………….
For exclusive use, for [the name of this Artist] to use this image for:-
Media use: Worldwide web & promotional emails only.
Period of use: 2 years.
Territory of use: Internet only.
(BUR: €50.00).
Licence fee based on the above: 10 x €50.00 = €500.00.Ashley, having come from the days of negs and tranies I need to update my thinking on how to charge for digital images. From reading your
posts here I now realise that I need to look at how the digital world in general (software industry, etc.)charges for its goods and services, as it
seems logical that our “digital imaging” is pretty similar. I like your breakdown above and thank you for sharing it. You have opened my eyes to something that should have been staring me in the face. Thanks again !AshleyParticipantGCP wrote:

.. at the end of the day. Which is a Licence to use your images – which are protected under the Copyright Law – AFTER you have created them and BEFORE they pay you for the use of them – which you are now simply agreeing to let them use, for the amount you have stated on your invoice. So it’s basically just a Licence fee that you are asking them to pay you for… unless you are agreeing to do ‘Work Made For Hire’ instead.
So if you start with this form (which you can download from the AOP’s website here: Legal & Business Forms ) and work backwards, then it should all start to fall into place – as the words on your Invoice should tally with this and so should your Quotes.
(Note: when quoting I would normally say: To produce & then provide 10 images of ….; however, when invoicing I would just say: To provide 10 images of ….. – as the images will have already been produced by then.)GCPParticipant
