what to look for in a monitor ( flat pannel)

ive decided editing images on the laptop screen is getting tedious. i am looking at the apple 23 inch display here. Can anyone tell me what i should be looking for in a display, in regards to colors, refresh rates etc, or at least where to start looking for this info.thanks[/url]

if they say the monitor you want is a TN, look for something else
S-IPS are good but expensive, the new 27″ from dell (2709wfp) is not too bad for what you get
I have 2x 20″ NEC on S-IPS and I’m delightedI recently bought 2×20″ HP LP2065 monitors (S-IPS). Brilliant quality and a very good price (think I paid about €800 in total, inc delivery).
I too am looking for a new monitor and using only Apple computers I would love the 23inch but its definitely reached the end of its life and is on the verge of being replaced. I will probably go with this Dell one instead…. gets an amazing review….

Anyone got an recommendation for a good monitor for retouching for about 400-600 euro’s? The idea of getting a Dell monitor has been floating about in my head for a while.
Also what’s a cheap LCD 17″ does anyone know?

Unfortunately, Dell took off the earlier 2407WFP-HC monitor from their shops website, I have one and I would buy another one again. The 2008 version looks even better in the tests.
I just got that Dell Ultrasharp 2408… my god its good… amazingly bright and the colours are so saturated. After I calibrated it I sat there for an hour just opening old photos to see how they looked on it….. with a smug grin on my face! Being an Apple nut I wasn’t expecting much in therms of build quality but this thing is very very nicely made. Now to find an Apple sticker to put on top of that Dell badge……. :twisted: :twisted:

I use an apple 23″, which i can say is a fantastic monitor despite some bad reviews, although on he downside it does have some light leakage around the corners, almosrt like the opposite of a vignette. Ive never used a flat panel before so i cannot say how bad it is as i have nothing to compare it to. But im very happy with mine, I may invest in a second monitor but i hear the dell ultrasharp ones are very good.
