I have a Canon 400D with a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 as primary lens. I also have a Canon 50mm f1.8.
Now I want another lens – something bigger. But I really do not want to spend much cash – it’s a crying shame low little I’ve used my existing kit for the amount of money I’ve spent on it…
Anyway, I hear the Sigma 70-300mm APO is good for the money (about €150 or so, perhaps cheaper from ebay).
Is this as good as I’m going to get without spending a Lot more, or are there any alternatives worth consideration?
I’m actually quite happy with my 70-300 APO, i use the other 2 lenses you got too, i do notice i mostly use the 17-70
I’d second that. It’s great value and quality is fine if you confine it to below about 230mm – it’s a bit soft (though still perfectly acceptable) beyond that. It’s also got reasonably close focusing in “macro” mode.
