shinyMemberHey Shane,
I bought a graduated ND filter and Holder from ware house express yesterday.

http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=1013825I might get a linear polariser and maybe a harder ND8 Grad and I think that would nearly
cover all my needs for landscapes.nfl-fanParticipantThe thread title says “Best” but the thread details say “suitable”. There’s a huge difference between the best and suitable.
The best would possibly be Singh Ray or Lees Filters… but you could be talking €300+ just to get off the ground. Suitable would be Hoya, Cokin or Kood… you can put together a decent Cokin kit (Holder, Adapter, ND Grads) for as low as €50-ish.
It all really depends on your budget and needs.
shanekatMemberwhere is the best place to buy in dublin? anyone know ? I reckon I will go with the 50 euro set. I hear Cons in dublin is good
nfl-fanParticipantNow… €50 is what I’d quote for the bare essentials… and buying online…

shinyMemberChrist I wish I had seen those links before I ordered on warehouse express.
b318ispParticipantI’ve bought the Cokin P or Kood P series filters from eBay or 7dayshop. Cheap as chips, good quality and because it is modular, you only have to buy an adaptor ring for you lens rather than have them in specific (screw in) sizes. I have a ND2 grad, ND4 and Circular Polariser. Need to add a ND4 grad too.
nfl-fanParticipantI use the Cokin stuff… but I also bought a set of Hitech ND filters that fit the Cokin P system which are better quality upon a recommendation from a site member here.
Just remember that with Cokin the quality of the “plastic” that you’re putting in front of your lens glass could be of comparatively poorer quality. A lot of people reckon they leave a colour cast too…. although not the end of the world as it can be fixed.
If I had the sponteros I’d move up to Lees or SR but right now I can’t justify it.. haven’t been doing too much landscaping oF late.

Speaking from experience, the Cokin ND’s have a purple cast as John says.
Ditto that – I chucked out my first Cokin ND Grad many years ago when some nice images I had shot on Velvia with the filter had a horrible cast along the top.
