Okay, heres the thing. At least 12 days a week, I drive by the end of Dublin Airports main runway…. at St Margarets. Ive been doing it for a good few years now on the same road.
Recently I have spotted the strangest thing. Litterely where the cars often stop to watch planes come or go directly over thier heads, a little old man parks his battered old white car. He then sets about cutting the deep grass verge with a hedge cutting shears…. and putting the clippings in his car.
This morning he wasnt there, but you could see his work…. a patch about 20 or 30 feet long and ten feet wide…. and this evening he was just starting out with his shears as I drove by.
Whats he at?
Has he a very hungry rabbit? Maybe a horse?
Is he supplementing his own diet?
Is it penance for some horrible sin?
Is he testing the effect of plane exhausts on grass?
Im gonna stop one of these days and take a photo of him……. or at least the evidence of him. Maybe thats it, wierd crop circles spelling out IMF go home!
Anyone any explanation? Anyone else seen him? I am loosing my mind?????
