Whats the Best time of Year to Visit Scotland?

Has anyone travelled to Scotland for landscape shooting?
September/October best time? or would Feb/March be better maybe?
I used to visit Scotland in mid-June. I went there to take photos of the Western Highlands. the further north you go in Scotland, the more daylight you have. I once stayed at Arisaig in 1997. The sun set at 10.30pm and rose again at 03.00. But it never got dark.
