Well I just spent a few Zloty on a photobank during a quick weekend trip to Poland recently.
It’s an “i-Tec USB 2.0 Photobank PREMIUM” (link) and cost about 300 yoyo.
80Gb HD, 2.5″ colour screen, zoom & slideshow functions, auto or selective backup feature from memory cards (various slots on the unit incl CF), reads RAW files and loads of other formats.
Very handy for long or ‘away’ shoots, I can cycle my 3 cards without space issues, plus I can backup at the point. Overall it’s grand, it does the job though nothing to shout about.
It was more a necessity on a budget and I’m happy enough about it but next time will be inclined to dole out the cash on something like an Epson, as the features on this yoke don’t quite hit the mark and there was no way to test it in the shop. For example whilst I can zoom in for close inspection, the image quality on screen isn’t enough to help me decide to keep or trash the pic based on focusing accuracy or dof. Whilst 2.5″ inch screen size isn’t the most generous by today’s standards, it’s still workable.
So, next purchase after this one? It’s the big guns, Canon 40D or Mac Mini (most likely but undecided yet). But I’m skint at the mo like :( . Don’t think I have anything else lined up before those as I’m current on software and I’m grand on all the smally peripherals for the time being. Thank God considering my skintness :D
