A question for Sheldon; If the unit itself fails, I mean the housing/controller/the box, how easy is it for me to insert the drives into any other unit and retrieve my data? So can I take a drive from this unit and install it in my PC and see all the data again?
The internal drives are standard enough and I believe a good IT person should be able to retrieve the data. However, it should be worth mentioning that the unit comes with 3 years warranty. (There is no warranty for the data however)

Sheldon, that’s exactly something I was looking for.
can I use also replace the original HD? (thinking about future upgrades)
thanks
With eSATA and Firewire you should be able to boot from this unit (although I haven’t tried it) but for me it’s best feature is as a mirrored drive, ie Raid 1
