Good luck with whatever option you go with. If there’s not too much in it pricewise, would consider an Irish option personally, even if only to have better recourse if something goes wrong, etc.
Enjoy the lens, nothing like a fast prime :)
stcstcMemberi have bought from pixmania in the past both camera kit and other things
i have an account with the pro dept and means as i am vat registered i dont pay the vat on purchases from them
but i have also bought from conns, berminghams and gunnes all of who are a pleasure to deal with
i tend to buy from an irish supplier if the price is up to about 15% more as i want to support irish businesses. I mean i want people to support my irish business in the same way
there is a thread here about the customer service in conns that one member recieved over the purchase of a lieca camera, that kind of service is easily worth an extra 10 or 15% on the purchase price on any kit
the other thing to remember if you are trying to actually earn money from your equipment you need to be able to depend on it, but more importantly be able to depend on the support behind it. which means being able to walk back into a shop and get something sorted quickly or get a loaner while its being sorted. this is one of the reasons lots of the pros will spend thousands in place like conns, cos when they need the support its there.
you wont get the same support from an online retailer, the reason they are that bit cheaper is they dont have to provide the same level of support, i mean can you see an online retailer giving you a loan kit while yours is being repaired. nope not gonna happen
TwinFlashMemberIm not joking about dixons travel im in athe airport almost every day and usually they have much better prices than street shops.
PM me if need more detailsPixelleMemberAnd Dixons told me that if you have a problem with a purchase you don’t need to wait for your next hols, any branch will do.

PM me if need more detailsYes, what is the inside scoop on this, is it that you simply buy a cheapie ryanair flight, pick up the kit you wanted, and then stroll back through security? The latter part worries me, those guys & gals have no sense of humour..
Gerry KerrParticipantI would add my voice to support Conns as well. I can’t speak for Berminghams only because I’ve never bought there. My experience with online retailers is largely limited to pixmania and 7dayshop. Both are fine as long as their are no problems. I had a faulty DOA lens from 7dayshop and it was an absolute nightmare. The only way to communicate with them was via an online form and I eventually gave up in frustration and rang Canon who eventually sorted it out.
Since then, I’ve bought in Conns and would echo what others have said – their customer service is excellent and well worth the extra few euro (IMHO)
