Where’s the best place for Hasselblad equipment…

Johnny, I think the RZ would focus closer in general than the Hasselblad but you’d lose some portability. I have the Hasselblad 40mm 80mm 120mm & 150mm lenses and all the extention tubes. If you fancy running a roll or two of film through my camera I can meet you anytime. Just dont ask me to stand in front of the camera

Putting it simply…well I can’t cos it’s kinda hard to, but I just like the feel of film, digital takes part of that away, and I don’t know…I just like to somehow feel that I’m keeping film somehow alive by trying my hardest to do work on film, so I can help show people that with film you can still (hopefully) achieve effects better than what you get with digital. Not that I’m anti-digital, not at all, I just like film, and I like what I get. It’s just more tangible I guess…

Ah I see – makes perfect sense to me. I agree with you that there’s a certain “feel” to working with film that’s missing when working with digital. I guess that’s one of the reasons I haven’t given up my film bodies yet! However, I’d have to disagree with you when you say that “with film you can still (hopefully) achieve effects better than what you get with digital”. Better in what way? You see, I happen to think that film isn’t better than digital, just as digital isn’t better than film! One isn’t better than the other – it’s just different! But that you like film, that I can understand. I suppose some people might accuse me of sitting on the fence on this but I like both, for different reasons.

Here’s another thought for you. Instead of going down the route of getting a Hasselblad, have you given any thought to getting something like a Leica M6 or M7??? Something tells me that you just might like it! It all depends on what suits your style of work better and what you want to do with the final output.

One of the reasons I like a hasselblad or Mamiya is the actual way of working. i like looking down into the viewfinder as there is no barrier between you and the subject as with an SLR at eye level. I just like the fell of these cameras but what I would really go for would be the Hasselblad with the Digital back that would be my ultimate camera.

    just mt thoughts John.

Johnny I was in Portadown to day and Ronnie has two Hasselblads ?700 including a standard lens each he also has a good selection of other lenses and acessories.
