Couple of shots when I visited Whitby with my girlfriend.

    Hi Ashley,

You have 2 quite interesting images there.

I feel that the sky in #1 dosen’t really help the image and
maybe there is a little bit too much of it.
You could try cropping a bit off the top.

I think the area to the RHS under the bridge could do with a
little lightening (maybe the Shadows/Highlights tool) to bring
    back a little more detail.

The tower and the wooden planks in #2 make a lovely subject.
The railings around the ladder (Not your fault of course) don’t
    help the image I think.
I can’t help wondering what the colour version of this was like.

    Good efforts.

    John.

I quite like the sky in the first image, but I like that king of thing anyway. I wouldn’t be in any rush to crop.

I do agree with John on the second image. It works well in B&W but as I love to see clear blue skies I wouldn’t be adverse to seeing the colour version either.

I was wondering myself whether I should’ve cropped the sky a bit or not too. Might load up photoshop and try out different crops, see how it goes.

was in whitby myself about 6 weeks ago – nice place. Did you get the fish and chips at the Magpie?

I like the first a lot, I have no problem with the sky and the composition is nice. I like how the pier leads into the horizon.
