White Stripes

LoGillParticipant
Had the opportunity last weekend to shoot with Monika – it was very last minute and I hadn’t really any time to generate ideas!
so – I ran to the shops on Friday afternoon looking for some fashion inspriation and found the dress on sale for €20 –
Other ingredient = fabulous model and a large window offering plenty of natural light.
I’d love to hear your oppinions ;)
Thanks
L
miki gParticipantHi Lorraine. I’m afraid this one doesn’t work for me. The pose looks like the model had stomach cramps as she is hunched slightly and the positioning of the hands across her stomach (no disrespect intended to the model as she looks quiet nice) and the crumpling of the dress looks untidy, but I think that’s because you haven’t included more of the dress to show its style. The B&W stripes in the dress remind me of an image I posted some time ago which I titled hypnotik as they are a little hard on the eyes. I’m no expert in this area and these are only my opinions.
LoGillParticipantHiya Miki
No worries on the critique -I’m more than happy to look at the image with your feedback in mind and reassess – although I did laugh when you mentioned the stomach cramps :)
I think the pose is contemporary for fashion – I might take a look at some wider crops though – looking at the shape of the dress and the pleats I think your suggestion there could be more beneficial, thanks. And lastly – about the stripes – they are always going to be strong in terms of contrast against each other – particularly in the proximity of the pattern here – but i’m not seeing any moire so its all good for me !
Thanks again – I appreciate it.

CooksterParticipantHi Lorraine
You girls have all the fun.
I never get to buy a new dress when I want to take pictures!!!
I kinda agree with Miki, though there’s a thin line between a model that looks uncomfortable and one striking a pose. I wonder if you have room in the original to rotate a few degrees CW to get her spine straight with edge of frame, rather than hips??
The right eye looks a bit fuzzy (excuse the technical lingo here – years in the biz) IMO
This is a great shot btw, I aspire to this standard.
All the best
Sean
LoGillParticipant;) its a win win situation – photography & shopping :)
I have loads of these – all sorts of poses – there is one other straight on shot I’m planning to get to – so I’ll pop it here for you guys to compare – for me I like this one – maybe its a girl thing ;) If I have time later – I’ll post a close crop later on so you can check for “fuziness” ;)
Thanks a million though – I like to get a sense of what other people “see” before I finish a pic.. so very much appreicated

DenverDollParticipantLove a lot of things about this except for the pose…
The light, the makeup, the earrings and the model are class~
The eyes are stunning Lorraine~
I am completely in favour of the black and white stripes but that might be because that is what I am wearing today, so please Lo, let us see see some more from this shoot!
CooksterParticipantHi Lo,
can you see a difference in the eyes. To me the left eye just looks glassier, could just be the natural colouring of her eyes (which are stunning), or a movement of the right pupil (???).I’ve checked on two computers and even wiped the jam off my monitor.
Lol
