White tail deer.

I was able to catch these white tailed deer coming out of the woods yesterday evening.
I had set up with an older Nikon 6mp d100 and an old manual focus 400mm f2.8 Nikkor Lens.
I waited about 1/2 hour and was rewarded with this 13 point buck and his Harem.

On the move from the woods.

    I’ve been found out.

Very nice Jim, your setup done a fine job. I particularly like number 2 with the Stag looking at you even though it would have been nice to see both deer in focus. Number 3 looks a bit busy for me and the first one looks a bit bright especially the ground.

These are great shots, but I really like the 2nd one.
It looks like the old machines can still perform well :) .

#2 is my preference of the three.

Forgot to mention Jim that some day I would love to take pictures like the ones above, after 2 years I’m still waiting for a decent shot of a deer in the wild.

    Dave,
Take note if you see a herd in or at the edge of a field.
They tend to feed about the same tine of day and will return to the same places if there is food.
I could go back to this spot another day set up and wait a little while and I am sure they would return.
These are from my third set of this herd.
