I’m not sure that the sky adds anything to this shot Andy? In other words I think the shot is in the sand, the waves and the rocks. Maybe you should try a crop to see if it increases the appeal? At the moment all the interest is in the foreground from my point of view, and personally I think cropping out the sky would therefore make it better.

    just my 2c.

    Hi Andy

I can sympathise with the sky. I spent a few hrs up around Portstewart, Portrush & Dunluce Castle on Sat afternoon. The fog was terrible.
    Still a great foreground though.

    Nice photo of the water.
I would crop the sky out and more, upto the third stone.
Maybe increase of red would give better atmosphere of the photo.

    Thanks guys,

I quite like the soft pink of the sky. I’m surprised that no-one has pointed out that my lead-in line exits off to the left of the frame. Ideally I should have liked it to be leading more out to the waves to the right.

I was in two minds about posting the one I took without the water running over the top of the boulder. What do you think about it? Does that little strand of white look a little odd? I just felt that in the other shot, the rock had gone jet black and seemed to dominate a bit too much.

    Merry Cristmas everyone.

To me, the rocks form the lead-in lines.

    Yes brandyman,

They are the lead in lines, but the three main ones lead in a curve out of frame rather that into frame. Thats my point.
