Whiterocks Beach Sunset
-
ballylig_boyParticipant
Hi,
I went to Whiterocks beach at the weekend to try to get the sunset out at sea with rocks in the foreground. The sun is now setting further to the west at the end of the beach so I took a couple of beach shots. I’m very happy with both of these but would appreciate feedback on how I could improve any aspect of them.
Both photos taken with my Canon 450D and the kit lens
f/9, 15 second exposure
f/11, 4 second exposure
Thanks for looking,
Brian
RogMemberHi Brian,
Lovely colours in these, but hope you don’t mind if a may make a couple of suggestions.First, when taking landscapes like these, try not to have the horizon split the image in two.
This usually only works when there’s a reflected image in the water, so that the bottom half is like a mirror image of the top.
The other point I’d make is that when taking landscapes, it’s a good idea to have foreground interest.
ie: There should be rocks in the front part of the image, instead of just water.
If you have something in the foreground, it gives a sense of scale to the image.Hope this helps.
Regards, Rog
flynnyParticipantLovely colours here,
Maybe a little crop off the bottom.

I’d then print it big and put it at the far end of a large room. Nothing much to look at close up but the colours would look spectacular from a distance!
PD_BARBSParticipantAll already said, a lovely set of shots, with some great colours. A crop would certainly lift these especially the first one. Nice work.
ballylig_boyParticipantSteveDParticipantPersonally I wouldn’t do anything else to them. The second shot is one of the nicest photos of Whiterocks that I have seen.
