Who needs 5×4?

Thanks for the added input jb, I made it about half way through :D
If that was the reaction I as a moderator got for trying to prevent the thread running away with itself, I can only imagine the hit-job which would have been performed on poor old Andy if he had provided further clarification :D
So I think that is it now, any complaints about the way I have moderated this one can be sent to Mark.
jb7ParticipantMaybe I should make the letters bigger.
You should know the rules as well as anyone else.j

Steve as moderator I would expect you to read peoples posts before making decisions with respect to moderating them or otherwise.
Your piece on half reading JBs post is clearly intended as an insult to him which I find utterly dismaying from a moderator to one of PIs most valuable member. Not since you insulted Margaret Moore have I seen such behavior.SteveDParticipantRobMemberSteveD wrote:

Sorry Steve…
Nope, I’ve checked again… and again. Still can’t see where exactly the attempted to
moderate anything atually is. Am I missing something? Some nuance? A subtext perhaps?
:? :?Rob.
andy mcinroyParticipantAs thread starter, I would like to respectfully ask that we could finish it here.
It was not my intention at all (despite the title of the thread) that it should lead to this sort of reaction.
Please read my original post again. I agree that title was somewhat joking and not in keeping with its content. But people have read it completely the wrong way.
Andy
jb7ParticipantPeople have not read it the wrong way,
you have written it the wrong way.
And I would respectfully ask why it is others that have to be wrong.Fintan was right, it was a trolling start to the thread,
and it would not be at all acceptable anywhere else.Your apparent ‘jokiness’ was shown not to be the case in one of your subsequent posts, however,
and you still haven’t expanded on your ‘5×4 is soulless’ statement, despite requests.Regarding the ‘moderation’,
Rob, I couldn’t have put it better myself.Rather than let the thread quietly pass away,
the thread was inflamed, re-ignited.And, whether or not anybody wants it all to go quietly away,
if someone has something valid to add,
I don’t see why it can’t be written.j
andy mcinroyParticipantJB7,
I really feel that you are taking this way too seriously.
Get a grip man. :D
Andy
jb7ParticipantOK Andy,
no problem.Just because you say I’m ranting doesn’t mean I’m ranting,
just because someone says I’m being over-sensitive doesn’t mean I’m being over sensitive,
and just because you challenge me to get a grip,
doesn’t mean I’ve lost it.It just means you’ve nothing more to say.

CianMcLiamParticipantI can just picture Andy carefully unlocking the bunker door, creeping inside and taking a seat beside Salman Rushdie and friends. Keep a safe distance from the sacred cows and never take them lightly, be warned so that you may walk safely :)
I suppose it all depends on what the customers expectations are, if the customer is happy then a debate about fine detail is pointless. Since that’s the case, if you have happy customers with digital then you can safely say you dont need 5×4. Customers aren’t a one-size fits all, some people drive a Volkswagen, some a Porsche. Is the Volkswagen driver getting a bad deal because his/her car wont go from 0-60 in 5 seconds? Some people want a picture that looks great from 5ft away, others aren’t happy unless it looks great at the end of their nose, as long as you understand what kind of customer you have and know whether you can meet their expectations or not then you can’t really go wrong.
jb7Participant“Customer Ireland” doesn’t have the same ring to it-
Though I can see your point,
its whatever you can get away with, after all.j
thefizzParticipantI’m glad to see that common sense has prevailed and the thread has been unlocked.

I find that most of my pictures tend to look best at a distance
of about thirty metres… :oops:andy mcinroyParticipantCianMcLiam wrote:

LOL, hopefully it won’t come to that.

At last, someone has intepreted my original post as I had intended.
Let me make this clear to the sensitive souls. I provided this image to the customer before invoicing to allow them to make test strips. The customer was indeed happy to proceed and made the order. They have now used the image and I have invoiced them. Although I can’t name the design company, I can assure you that they know what they are doing.
They got what they “needed” at the right price. We can pixel peep at 5×4 scans all we want, it makes no difference in this situation.

It was locked for all of about 5 seconds, don’t be so dramatic!
