Wicklow mountains

dan_cParticipantMadra RuaParticipant
To me it looks like a good shot inspite of the lack of sunshine
Would you mind sharing the location?dan_cParticipantI had a look on the map: from Laragh to Hollywood R756 I think (take the scenic drive)
PippateeMemberThat’s a great shot from great part of the country…the motion of the water is great!!
MartinParticipantVery nice shot. Nothing negative to say I like it just the way you took it, well done
I was standing in this spot myself just last weekend and took a few photos. None of mine were as nice as this one though.
Madra Rua. This was taken just down from the Disused Lead Mine which is approx 3km down the road from the top of the Wicklow Gap on the Laragh side.
RobertoMemberGood composition, Dan.
I have some comments.
I would wait little longer with the shot to have better clouds (or revisit the same spot). You can not see the border of the top of the mountain because is white (snow?) and the sky as well.
Overal, I feel like the shot was taking in the studio because the light.
Did you use some filters?StevenHannaMemberdan_cParticipantThanks for your comments. I used my 0.6 ND Hoya filter (I don’t have a ND grad) on top of my polarizer.
Does anyone know if you can use an ND grad (to balance the sky) on top of a ND (to blur the water)?
JMcLParticipantLovely shot Dan, like it a lot. It’s inspiring me to try something to a similar shot I took down in Cork last year. It never occurred to me to try a mono conversion

You’ll be able to do that no problem. The only thing you may have to beware of is vignetting if you’re stacking filters in front of a very wide angle lens
