Wicklow trees

Fell down a few bog holes and was eaten by midges before I got this shot!. Personally I see plenty of issues with it but also something appealing about it. Interested in your comments?:-)

I like it,where abouts is it.
The one thing I’d do a little moan about is the wispy fore ground,,if the detail was stronger in the fre ground,,

I like the low angle, good pov.

Its on the road to sally gap coming from Blessington / Kippure side. Look to the right heading toward the gap and you will see bog land with a series of freee standing dead trees. Take my advise though, its a real struggle down there the terrain is almost impossible to get through

Hi all – its not far from me and its called the “Coronation Plantation”.

here’s a link with some other images and info on its history.

Many red Squirrels live in these trees.

You can google it and come up with many references.

i really like the composition but the processing is really overcooked on this

Yes I love the composition too. It’s a great shot but it looks like the trees have been cut from a white background and pasted on. They haven’t of course but the processing sorta makes it look that way.

Wicklow tree are very beautiful with the best composition and I think you area great photographer. The shot you have taken is commendable and if this Wicklow trees could talk then they would also appreciate your work. But more Green photography will also look very beautiful.

Thats very interesting Brendan. I actually felt a very errie feel to that place as opposed to “peaceful” and the thought had crossed my mind that something not so good had happened in that area at some point. Of course it was starting to get dark and I was faced with a real dodgy hike out so maybe that was it :-)

I agree with John. The composition is strong here, but the sky is way overdone.

I’ve tried a few times to photograph the Coronation Plantation, but failed miserably every time. It’s one of my favorite places in Wicklow. I don’t think it conveys a peaceful feeling either. It feels abandoned, and foreboding to me, but maybe that’s because I’ve never been there when the trees had leaves on them.
