Wide Angle or Not Wide Angle

Martin mate that’d be excellent and would be a huge help. Unfortunately there arent alot of people around me who are into photography so my access to others is limited, but glad to know theres someone so close whos willing to help a beginner out.
If we ever get a nice day forecast i’ll have to let you know and we’ll arrange a meeting.
Thanks for the kind offer :)TigsMemberHi guys,
As a very very new beginner I have to say after reading the very… eh well over informative posts i was very put off about posting what i would consider stupid questions… i just bought a canon 70 – 300 lense…. you know why??? Cos i saw someone with a high vis branded vest on them at an event… it was special offer and i figured sure why not… having a wide variety of senses is not going to be a bad thing….
I vagely figured that the numbers related to the zoom but thats about it… wide angle, macro, micro…. not a clue….
So i’ll have to say to edg3… thanks for asking cos now i know too!!! Otherwise this is a forum for those who want to learn and share and grow… C & C is great but not in a nasty way…
Thats all…
Thanks!
edg3ParticipantNo Problem Tigs :) sure we all learn from asking or seeing others questions and answers to them. I have to say today i was searching for a new lens and i bought a 18-200mm Tamron, and while i was flicking though the Tamron website i found this
Tamron Brochure
Its about a single lens, the 18-250mm but on the second page of the PDF file it actually explains everything i was hoping to find from this topic in the first place. Explains Angles of View and Focal Lengths. Never thought i’d find something so useful in a brochure for a lens.
I hope the topic has helped you and dont let it put you off. Your gunna meet arseholes and opinionated people everywhere, especially on the net since most dont have the balls to say stuff like this in person as they’d be afraid you’d lay them flat on their back so they have to let off steam somewhere :)
Like someone else said, theres no such thing as a stupid question here, as its for beginners here.tracey mMemberMMX wrote:

I’m trying to get myself a foundation in photography
No, that would be perfect, but you´re not doing this. You´re asking us to build them for you and that´s what makes the difference
MMX you cannot claim that edg3 is not trying to build a foundation in photography because he asks a question on a ‘photography’ forum in the beginners section instead of reading a wiki page (as you suggest) or researching elsewhere on the Internet. As arrogant as you are, you don’t have the right to dictate how people choose to learn.
edg3Participantand i notice your the only one who had a problem with me asking the question here.
There people here with far more experience then you and if anyone should have been put off by my question it was them, yet most gave helpful opinion, advise and one even offered to meet up and show me his collection to help me understand.
Yeah i could have used Wikipedia, but how is reading it there any different from reading it here? Infact to get my information here gives me my exact answer and not a ton of other stuff i’d have to read through before getting an answer, well before you posted that was the idea anyway. As for competitions i entered a snapshot i took in a regional competition here in Meath and won 2nd place in March, 1 month after i got my camera. It wasnt a huge thing but i was proud of it, but it shows i do deserve to own a camera as i might not know all you know but i have an eye for a shot and thats something i’d rather have then all the knowledge about the camera itself. So when i wanna know something i ask. Otherwise i keep my head down and learn by doing OR reading. This is what i’ll continue to do.
MarkKeymasterMMX, no need for your PS comments, not an attitude welcome on the site.
People are encouraged to ask questions here on the site, they dont need to go
elsewhere to ask. If you or others dont wish to answer them in a respectful way
then dont answer them at all.Topic closed
